The Imperial County COVID-19 numbers continue to improve.

As of Wednesday morning there were 577 active COVID-19 cases reported in the Valley. Of those , 37 are hospitalized with 23 of the 37 in Intensive Care Units. The number of deaths recorded due to the virus increased from 573 on Tuesday to 574 on Wednesday. There is 1 ICU bed open in the Valley. The COVID-19 State Tier Metrics chart shows that there were 28.18 new cases per day per 100,000 population and the positivity rate of testing is now at 18.47%. By comparison , on January 12, 2021 there were 1,729 active cases with 165 COVID-19 individuals hospitalized. At the time in January there were 449 deaths attributed to the coronavirus.
