It appears the Imperial Valley may have avoided a post-holiday surge.
The Imperial County Public Health Department updated COVID-19 information Tuesday morning and it shows the number of active cases in the Valley is 1,342 , that's down from 1,809 reported on Friday. The number of deaths increased by 2 , going from 463 on Friday to 465 on Tuesday. The Health Department says that as of Tuesday morning there were 131 patients hospitalized with the virus. That's down from 143 on Friday. There are 2 ICU bed available in the county. The report of new cases per 1000,000 population is still very high at slightly over 83 and the positivity rate of those tested is fairly consistent at 38.68 percent.
