Armed robbers got away with $40,000 in cash Thursday afternoon.

According to El Centro Police reports , at about 2:20 p.m. two men , one armed with a handgun , took $40,000 in cash from 2 bank employees that were reloading an ATM in a shopping center parking lot at Imperial Avenue and Cruickshank. Police were told that the two men were in a white later model van and there was a woman in a black Hummer that was with them. The robbers were traced to an apartment complex on Wall Road in Imperial but officers were unable to locate the suspects in an apartment at the complex. One of the vehicles used in the robbery was recovered. Few other details have been released.
