The Tuesday COVID-19 update shows some improvement.

According to the numbers released by the Imperial County Public Health Department there are now 1,087 active cases of the coronavirus in the county , that is down from 1,141 on Monday and almost 400 lower than reported on Wednesday , November 25th. The number of deaths attributed to the virus remains at 356. That number has remained the same for the last week. El Centro Regional Medical Center reported Tuesday morning that there are 120 patients in the hospital with 56 of them being active COVID-19 cases. ECRMC has a capacity of 161 beds. There is also a 50 bed medical / surgical temporary facility in the north parking lot of the facility. There are also beds available at an Alternate Care Site housed in the gymnasium at Imperial Valley College. Local healthcare facilities and providers are bracing for an anticipated surge of cases following the Thanksgiving weekend holiday.
