The Imperial County Elections Department released updated information on the November 3 General Election.
As of Friday evening there are approximately 1,000 unprocessed vote-by-mail and 7,000 provisional ballots remaining to be tallied. Most of the races on the local ballot have pretty much been decided but there are two races in particular that could change. The contest for the second seat on the Heber Elementary School District race has just 3 votes separating the candidates. Helen Diaz Molina has 612 votes while Claudette J. Miranda has 609. And the race for the third seat on the El Centro City Council is still tight. Efrain Silva has 4617 votes while Edgard Garcia has 4561.
The Registrar of Voters has until December 3, 2020 to certify the election.
