(Unhealthy air quality)....All due to strong winds.

The gusty winds are whipping up high levels of PM 10. PM 10 is mostly dust in the air. Because of the gusty winds air quality has been reported from Moderate in Mexicali to Unhealthy to Hazardous in areas of Imperial Valley. Air Pollution Control has issued warnings for those with heart or repiratory conditions, the elderly and small children to remain indoors as much as possible. The winds are expected to gust into the night tonight, dying down somewhat overnight. Winds Tuesday expected between 5-10 miles per hour, before becoming calm by Wednesday. The winds have created several hazards, aside from the air quality. A power pole was reported leaning across Bruchard and West Bannister Roads, creating a traffic hazard. A power pole was reported down on West Lindsey Road, near English Road. Clark Road was closed near Willoughby Road because of downed or tilted poles. Trees and other debris has been reported wind blown throughout the Valley.
