(Groundbreaking Ceremony)...It was held Tuesday in Imperial.

Imperial City Officials and the 5th Street Development Company participated in the ceremony, breaking ground the Imperial Gateway Center. It will be located on the vacant parcel at 15th Street and Highway 86. Mayor Darrell Pechtil said they were excited about what the project will bring to Imperial. He said it was the first step in rejuvenating the Highway 86 corridor in the City of Imperial. The Imperial Gateway Center will sit on a 4 acre site at the north end of the City, across from Frank Wright Middle School Development will include the relocated US Imperial Post Office, a 7-11 Convenience Store and Gas Station, and a drive-thru restaurant pad. Construction begins this winter, with an expected completion in the summer of 2021.
