(Two men rescued in the desert)...They were in separate events.
The First was reported at 6:15 Sunday morning. The California Highway Patrol reported a distress call from a person who had entered the United States illegally. The information was passed on to Border Patrol agents. The 35 year old Mexican National was located near Ocotillo. He was given water, but did not need medical attention. He was transported to the El Centro Station to be processed before being deported back to Mexico. Later the same morning the CHP reported a distress call from a hiker, who had gotten lost and needed help. The informnation was pssed on to Border Patrol agents who located the man. The hiker was a US citizen. He was provided water and escorted to safety. The hiker told the agents he did not need medical attention.
