The California Department of Public Health has released guidelines to celebrate Halloween safely.

According to State officials , many traditional celebrations  , such as parties and door-to-door trick or treating , increase the risk of spreading COVID-19. Public Health officials offered some recommendations for Halloween and Dia de Los Muertos celebrations:

* At-Home Halloween by creating a haunted house , a candy scavenger hunt , dress up your home or yard.

* Virtual Halloween by hosting a party , complete with costumes and pumpkin carving.

* Car based Halloween with a drive to view Halloween decorations.

State Health officials said that activities that bring together individuals from multiple households would make it difficult to notify individuals who are later determined to have been exposed to the virus. The full guidance is available on the State of California COVID website.
