(Litigation filed against the County)...Three lawsuits filed against the Board of Supervisors
. Last week Scaroni Properties, Centro Civico Del Valle and Heber Public Utility District all filed the lawsuits. They all deal with the Board's recent decision to approve the expansion of El Toro Export in Heber. They say the project allows double the expansion of cattle, from 17,000 had to 34,000 within the immediate vicinity of the town of Heber. The litigation contends the expansion will halt development and stop the organic farmland because industry standards require a 1 to 2 mile buffer from cattle to grow vegetables. Each of the litigants said there attempts to delay the project or reach fair mitigation measures for the residents of Heber were either ignored or declined by the County and El Toro.
