The paving was a joint dust mitigation project between the Imperial County Air Pollution Control District and the Magnolia Union Elementary School District. The project consisted of paving a 32,000 square foot parent/staff unpaved parking lot at the school. It was categorized as an air emissions reduction project through the Air District's Rule 310 Program. Constant use of the parking lot created fugitive dust emissions that directly affected the health of studnts and faculty in the classrooms and playgrounds. The project greatly reduces the fugitive dust.
