El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents found the man Monday morning, about 29 miles west of the Calexico Downtown Port. The man was transported to the El Centro Border Patrol Station for an immigration and criminal history screening. The records check revealed the man was a 34 year old El Salvadoran and a documented member of the MS-13 gang. It also reveald h had previously been convicted of illegally entering the United States. He was formally ordered removed from the country in 2019. The 34 year old is being held in Federal Custody pending criminal prosecution
