(Valley Fire rages on)…It began Saturday near Alpine.
According to the latest update, the fire has burned 10,258 acres, and was only 1% contained. The State has declared a State of Emergency in the East San Diego County. The fire was reportedly started by a tractor fire near Japatul. It has destroyed 11 structures, including residences. Evacuation orders are still in effect. The Evacuation Centers have been set-up at Steele Canyon High School and at Joan MacQueen Middle School. Temporary evacuation for large animals is at the County Animal Services South Shelter in Bonita. No injuries have been reported.
