CAL FIRE and multiple other agencies are battling a stubborn brush fire southeast of Alpine in San Diego County.
As of late Saturday the fire had consumed more than 1,500 acres and was zero per cent contained. Evacuation orders have been issued for the small community of Carve Acre with a temporary evacuation center at Steele Canyon High School in Spring Valley and MacQueen Middle School in Alpine. Firefighters are fighting the fire in 100 degree plus weather. Smoke from the fire has been visible in Imperial Valley.
