(Utility Assistance)….It was approved this week.
Previously the County Board of Supervisors agreed to apply for a grant through the California Department of Housing and Community Development, Community Development Block Grant Coronavirus Round 1 Program. Imperial County was eligible for a $145,805 grant. It was approved. This week the Board decided how to spend the grant. It was agreed the funds would go to Utility Assistance. It is for those who lost their jobs or experienced a reduction in hours due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Eligible applicants would receive up to $700 for electricity, $300 for water and $100 for gas payments. Those who qualify will not receive any cash. The payments will be made directly to the providers. The program could potentially assist up to 50 families in Imperial County.
