The Federal Government has approved California for a FEMA grant under the Lost Wages Assistance program .

According to FEMA grant funding will allow California to provide $300 a week in addition to the State's regular unemployment benefit to workers unemployed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The funds are part of up to $44 billion available;able through FEMS's Disaster Relief Fund. California has agreed to work with FEMA to implement a system to make the funds available to the state's residents and administer the program.
