The Imperial County Public Health Department has released the COVID-19 numbers as of Friday afternoon.
While the number of deaths increased by 2 in the 24 hours since the last update , going from 240 to 242 , the percentage of individuals testing positive positive has improved. The 7-Day Percentage of testing positive has dropped to 10.34%. The Governor's mandate calls for less than 8% testing positive in the past seven days. The County and the Imperial Valley Business Recovery Task Force are encouraging everyone to get tested for the virus. OptumServe has three sites available in the Valley , at the Calexico community Center , the Brawley Senior Center and the Veteran's Hall in Imperial. The testing sites are operating Tuesday through Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Testing is free and no physician referral is necessary. You must make an appointment to be tested.
Friday's numbers show there are now 9,629 individuals who have tested positive for the coronavirus , an increase of 28 from the day prior. The number of active cases decreased from 874 to 851. Calexico has 2,967 cases , El Centro has 2,533 , Brawley 1,644 , Imperial 839 , Heber 427 and Holtville 415.
