(Border Patrol rescues five more)…12 people were rescued over the weekend.

The latest rescue was a binational collaborative effort. Late Tuesday afternoon Border Patrol agents in Calexico patrolling about 20 miles east of the Downtown Calexico Port encountered five individuals requesting assistance. They were on the Mexican side of the international fence and appeared to be suffering from fatigue and dehydration. A Border Patrol agent certified as an emergency medical technician arrived and evaluated the individuals and provided them with water through the fence. The Foreign Operations Branch was notified and they advised Mexican authorities and Grupo Beta of the situation. The Border Patrol agents stayed with the group until Mexican authorities arrived. Mexicali Police and Grupo Beta arrived, medically evaluated the group and took them into custody. Foreign Operations were later notified that all five had recovered.
