A Yuma man is facing aggravated assault charges after a disturbance at a frozen yogurt store.

According to the Yuma County Sheriff's Office , they responded to a report of a disturbance at the Tiki Hut Frozen Yogurt store on Fortuna Road at about 6:15 p.m. Thursday. Deputies were told that a man entered the business without wearing a facial covering. An employee of the store told the man that the face covering was required as well as gloves that are provided by the store. The man , later identified as 64-year old Steven Covington , became upset and began dispensing frozen yogurt into his bare hands. Covington was escorted out of the business by an employee. Covington then went to his car and got a handgun and followed the employee back to the store. Employees were able to lock the door and. Covington is alleged to have pointed the gun at the employee and tried to get back into the store as well as an adjoining business. Covington then left the store but was located by Sheriff's deputies a short time later and taken into custody. He was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon , Misconduct with a Weapon and Disorderly conduct.
