An accident on Interstate 8 Thursday afternoon claimed two lives.
The accident occurred at about 2:20 p.m. near the Brake Inspection Turnout at In-Ko-Pah. Initial reports indicate a car went out of control and rolled over and then burst into flames. Two people in the car died while a third suffered serious injuries. Eastbound traffic was blocked for a while for emergency crews to attend to the victims. Both east and west bound lanes were shut down for a brief period so that Life Flight helicopters could land. Lanes were reopened at about 3:30 p.m. No other details have been released as the accident remains under investigation.
