Arrests along the U.S. / Mexico border jumped nearly 40% in June.
According to information from the U. S. Border Patrol , a total of 32,512 apprehensions were made along the southwest border in June. That's a significant increase over the 23,142 apprehensions in May of this year. According to U. S. Customs and Border Protection , almost all of those detained were sent right back to Mexico. While the June numbers increased the total of apprehensions last month is far below the 104,311 apprehensions and detentions from June of 2019. According to CBP Acting Commissioner Mark A, Morgan , " Single adult Mexican nationals , who are generally seeking economic opportunities , accounted for almost 80% of the encounters. "
