(Pedestrian lanes closed at Downtown Port in Calexico)…It happened Thursday morning.

Officials are investigating a reported Officer involved shooting. According to preliminary reports, a man, appearing to be in his early 30’s, approached a Customs and Border Protection officer at the pedestrian crossing at the old Downtown Port. The unidentified man, said to be carrying a bag, became aggressive with the officer. Some reports say the man had a weapon, possibly a knife. When the man failed to calm down and continued his aggressive action , the CBP officer shot the man and killing him. It is being reported the man had just robbed an exchange house in Mexicali and was attempting to escape into Calexico. The incident is under investigation.
