The number of COVID-19 related deaths in Imperial County has reached one hundred.
The latest information from the Imperial County Public Health Department shows that the number of individuals who have tested positive for the coronavirus jumped up 319 over the period from Wednesday to Thursday going from 6,523 to 6,842. The number of active cases went from 972 on Wednesday to 1,229 on Thursday , an increase of 257. and the death toll went up 3 from 97 to 100 over the same period.
Wednesday evening an Amended Public Health Officer Order was issued that outlines a 13-point plan developed by County Officials to mitigate the local impacts of COVID-19. The amended order closed non-essential businesses to in-store shopping but , does authorize curbside pickup. Indoor religious services are prohibited with outdoor service allowed but limited to 100 participants , as long as they cn implement social distancing measures. County parks have been ordered closed and it is recommended that Valley cities close parks as well.
The amended order also reiterates existing guidelines such as Stay-at-Home except for essential business. Families are strongly encouraged to limit the number of family members visiting the store to one person per family per visit. Face coverings are required. All non-essential gatherings of any size are prohibited.
