The City of Mexicali checked southbound vehicles Friday night and caused traffic to back up on Imperial Avenue to Jasper Road.

Mexicali authorities were checking the temperature of drivers and passengers as well as making sure no one was trying to bring beer into the city. Reports were that it was taking nearly three hours to cross south in Mexico. The southbound checks were started last weekend for Father's Day and then resumed this weekend. The temperature checks are being made in an effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
