Governor Gavin Newsom advised Imperial County to go back and reinstate a stay-at-home order.

At his weekly press conference , the Governor addressed the surge in coronavirus cases in the state and pointed out that Imperial County has the highest rate of positive tests in the state. According to Newsom , Imperial County 14-day rate of positive tests results is nearly 23% , far exceeding the rate in the rest of the state. According to local health authorities an estimated 500 patients have been transferred from Imperial County hospitals to other healthcare facilities throughout the state. The Governor said , " We obviously are at a point now where the impacts on surrounding counties and the impact on public health within the county is such that we believe it is time to dial back."
