(Caltrans postpones project)…The project would close the Buckman Springs Rest Area

. Caltrans says the project will be rescheduled some time after April 6. Once underway, the project is expected to close the Interstate 8 Rest Area for up to a year. The closure would be necessary for work on the Buckman Springs Sewer/Water Systems restoration project that will bring the rest area into compliance with state and federal water quality standards. The $3.4 million project is being funded by the State Highway Operation and Protection Program. Caltrans have not said what prompted the postponement.
