(Fentanyl seized)…Two arrested.
It happened at around 12:25 Tuesday afternoon. A man driving a grey vehicle approached the checkpoint on Interstate 8, between Campo and Pine Valley. A Border Patrol canine detection team alerted to the vehicle and agents referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of two wrapped packages inside a false compartment next to the vehicle’s battery. The packages weighed nearly 10 pounds. They contained fentanyl, with a street value of $113,000. The 29 year old male driver and a 28 year old female passenger, both US citizens, were arrested and turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
