Carlos Aguilar Park in El Centro will be closed for several months as renovations and upgrades are made.
The project will consist of material abatement , demolition work , construction of a new soccer field , irrigation system , walking path , new restrooms and snack bar , playground equipment , basketball court , picnic areas , benches , drinking fountains , landscaping , concrete flatwork and perimeter fencing. Several off-site improvements along Pico Avenue and the alley to the west of the park. The cost of the renovations is $2.1 million and is partially funded by Measure P , Community Development Block Grant Program , Local Transportation Authority and the Office of Grants and Local Services fund. The park is closed and will remain closed until completion of the project in June of this year.
