(Prison visitor arrested)….It happened Friday afternoon.
Calipatria State Prison officials say Luz M. Rodriguez was at the prison to visit Pedro Espinoza, an inmate at the facility. Correctional Officers found Rodriguez to be in possession of two bindles containing Heroin. The woman was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail. Following an investigation, Espinoza was housed in Administrative Segregation. He is being charged with Conspiracy to introduce a controlled substance into the institution with the intent to distribute. The 28 year old inmate had been admitted to the Calipatria Facility in September 2008, from Los Angeles County. He was serving an 18 year sentence for false imprisonment, criminal threats and corporal injury to domestic partner.
