Five Imperial Valley Chambers of Commerce met Tuesday to consider merging.
The idea to form a Regional Chamber of Commerce in the Imperial Valley has been discussed for nearly 10 years but only recently has the concept been more thoroughly explored. Board members and staff from the Westmorland , Brawley , Imperial , El Centro and Calexico Chambers looked at regional chamber success stories such as the Greater Coachella Valley Chamber of Commerce. According to Chair Bari Smith of the Westmorland Chamber , " The concept of merging is only in the beginning stages but we are excited about the growth , resources , and advocacy a regional chamber would bring to the business community in the Imperial Valley."
On Tuesday , February 18, 2020 , there will be an informational meeting at the Frank Wright Middle School Auditorium in Imperial at 7:00 p.m. The business community is invited to attend and ask questions, share feedback and learn more about the concept of a regional chamber of commerce.
