The City of El Centro has announced the 2020 El Centro Mardi Gras King and Queen. 

King Jesus " Jack " Terrazas and Queen Frances Armenta Terrazas will reign over the festivities. Jack Terrazas has had a long career in public service beginning with the City of El Centro Planning Commission , continuing to the El Centro City Council and then elected to the Imperial County Board of Supervisors. He continues to serve on the Imperial Valley Housing Authority Board of Trustees. Queen Frances Terrazas has spent over 20 years in the public sector with the State of California and the California Public Education System. She worked for the Brawley Union High School District as a school psychologist and Director of Special Education. She has also been a trustee on the El Centro Elementary School Board.

The El Centro Mardi Gras festivities kick off on January 16, 2020 with the King and Queen Coronation and continues at the El Centro Regional Medical Center Foundation's Annual Mardi Gras " Bal " fundraiser on February on February 21st. The Royal Couple will reign over the Annual Mardi Gras Parade and Street Festival on Saturday , February 22, 2020.
