(Two caught smuggling narcotics)….They were arrested at the Highway 86 Checkpoint.
Border Patrol agents say a vehicle driven by a 63 year man drove up to the checkpoint. The vehicle had two juvenile female passengers. A Border Patrol Canine detection team alerted to the vehicle, and it sent to the secondary inspection area. The occupants of the vehicle were searched. Agents discovered seven packages strapped around the bodies of the two juveniles. They contained 2.46 pounds of cocaine and .78 pounds of fentanyl pills. The total value was set at $61,500. The two 17 year old juveniles are US Citizens. The driver of the vehicle is a lawfully admitted permenant resident. They were all arrested and, along with the narcotics and the vehicle, were turned over to the Imperial County Sheriff’s Office Border Crimes Suppression Team.
