Police are investigating a shooting that happened in broad daylight on an El Centro street.
The incident was reported to El Centro Police at about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when a man went to a bakery on South 4th Street claiming to have been shot. Investigating officers determined that the man was in the area of the 600 block of South 5th Street , possibly with two other subjects , when they were approached by a masked suspect in a vehicle. Police say that a man got out of the passenger side of the truck and fired multiple rounds in the direction of the victim and two other pedestrians before fleeing from the area. Witnesses told officers that they had heard multiple shots and that a lifted blue 2012 Chevrolet Colorado with black rims and an older model Ford Explorer , brown or tan in color , were involved. The trucks were last seen westbound on Holt Avenue from 5th Street. The victim was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. No motive was established for the shooting. The incident remains under investigation.
