The latest Air Quality Alert issued by the Imperial County Air Pollution District was at 9:00 am Monday. The Alert indicated Air Quality in Mexicali was Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups. The Air Quality Index for PM 2.5 was very high. PM 2.5 is a finite particulate matter caused mostly by vehicle emissions. At the high levels, people most at risk are those with respiratory or heart disease, the elderly and children. It is recommended that those at risk should reduce prolonged or heavy exertion during periods of high levels of PM 2.5. The morning AQI for Imperial County has mostly been Good in the North end and Moderate in The South end.
