Governor Gavin Newsome signed AB-335 into law Wednesday.
The bill , sponsored by Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia , will expand the function of the Imperial County Transportation Commission. According to Garcia , " AB 335 will expand the Imperial County Transportation Commission's scope of duties to include non-transportation activities such as animal control , waste management , emergency response services or multi-agency communications services during county-wide natural disasters such as earthquakes , fires , and floods. These changes aim to help consolidate costs , increases administrative efficiency and cooperation to better serve our region." The measure was sponsored by the Imperial County Transportation Commission and received the support of County of Imperial , Imperial Irrigation District and the cities of Brawley , Calexico , Calipatria , El Centro , Holtville , Imperial and Westmorland. AB 335 was Assemblymember Garcia's first bill of the year signed into law.
