(Memorial Day Weekend)…It is coming up.

Motorists be aware during the 3-day weekend. The California Highway Patrol will go into their Maximum Enforcement Period for the Holiday at 6:00 pm Friday and continue until 11:59 Monday night. During the period as many officers as possible are assigned to patrol the roadways. They will be looking to enforce all laws, with a special eye on seatbelt violations. The Highway Patrol say 46 percent of those killed in vehicle collisions last memorial day Weekend were unrestrained. Yuma County Sheriff’s will be operating their ongoing traffic safety campaign, conducting DUI enforcement details thru-out the 3 day weekend. There will be increased patrols and they will also target areas with a high rate of recurrence for DUI related collision and/or arrests.
