(National Bicycle Safety Month)…It is being observed throughout the month of May.
In an effort to keep bicyclists safe, the California Highway Patrol is partnering with the California Office of Traffic Safety to urge everyone to be courteous and share the road safely. Although bicycle safety should be observed everyday of the year, the CHP says the month of May has been dedicated to encouraging drivers and bicyclists to do their part to help reduce deaths and injuries on California’s roads. Bicyclists need to be aware they have the same rights and are required to follow the same rules of the road as motorists. In California motorists are required to allow at least 3 feet of clearance when passing a bicycle.
