The California Highway Patrol is investigating a traffic accident that shut down eastbound Interstate 8 for over two hours New Years Eve.
The accident was reported at 4:30 p.m. and involved a semi-tractor trailer rig and an SUV that collided on Interstate 8 at State Route 7. The fully loaded big rig tipped over and blocked the eastbound lanes until the wreckage could be cleared. One person suffered minor injuries in the mishap.
Also Monday evening , at about 3:48 p.m. , an accident on Interstate 8 near In-Ko-Pah blocked one lane of the freeway for nearly two hours. A car spun out and then overturned. No injuries were reported in this accident.
And at 4:28 p.m. , an accident on westbound Interstate 8 near Ocotillo , a car had a tire blow out and ended up about 100 feet off the roadway. There were no injuries reported in that accident.
Emergency crews were also kept busy in the desert as a number of off-road vehicle accidents were reported. No further information is available on these accidents.
