A 70-year old Long Beach , California man died early Wednesday morning when he lost control of his car.

According to the California Highway Patrol , at about 6:25 a.m. , Bruce Mallard , Sr. was eastbound on Interstate 8 about two miles east of In-Ko-Pah Park Road when he drifted off the highway and then over-corrected trying to bring the car back on to the roadway. The car overturned and then went down the side of the mountain coming to rest on its wheels. Mallard succumbed to the injuries sustained in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.
