The County of Imperial has proclaimed a local emergency.

The proclamation has been made because of Tropical Storm Rachel and the forecast for high winds and rain expected to hit Imperial County Sunday. According to the Imperial County Fire Department anticipated impacts could include risks to people and property and damage to infrastructure including power, water, transportation, commercial and residential structures. 

Sand bags are available at Imperial County Fire stations as well as locations in El Centro, Imperial, and Brawley
