The Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors have approved a Large Load Tariff.

The action will establish how IID will evaluate and serve very large electricity users like data centers and other high-demand projects. The board's action follows a public review process that resulted in revisions to the proposed tariff before it was approved. Under the new tariff, large load customers will be responsible for costs and financial risks associated with serving their projects, including needed infrastructure and power supply, rather than shifting those costs to IID ratepayers. A formal process has also been established for determining whether IID can reliably serve a proposed large load and what system improvements might be required. The new tariff was unanimously approved by the board.
