(Border Patrol rescues two)...San Diego Sector Border Patrol agents rescued two individuals in separate incidents.
Both were in the East San Diego County Mountains, in extreme terrain and life-threatening temperatures. Earlier this month, agents out of the Boulevard Station an individual lost in the Jacumba Mountains with little to no water. The Boulevard agents coordinated with the El Centro Sector Agents to search the remote, rugged area, with temperatures at 107 degrees. The agents located the individual and they provided basic medical aid, while they waited for air support. A helicopter picked up the individual and transported him to the Jacumba interchange, where an ambulance transported him to the hospital to be treated for heat related injuries. In the other incident, an agent operating surveillance equipment noticed an individual walking near Cottonwood Canyon. Agents responded and encountered the individual at about 7:40 in the evening. Agents said the individual was in poor condition and unable to walk out of the Canyon without assistance. The individual was transported by ambulance to a hospital for treatment. It was determined both individuals had entered the US illegally.
