Set sail.

The City of Imperial is sponsoring boat races. Not just any boat, the watercraft in this race must be constructed of cardboard and duct tape. No other building materials are permitted. The races are set for Friday, July 31, 2026, at the Imperial Pool. A few other rules, boats must be built before arriving at the event. The boat must float. Boats are to be powered by the participants, no motors allowed. Participants must wear approved life jackets. For more details and to register, contact the City of Imperial. Participation is free but advance registration is encouraged as space is limited. The Cardboard Boat Races will run from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. It's free.
