An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Monday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) says a reduction the Major Heatrisk warning will occur the first half of the week before temperatures heat up during the second half of the week as high pressure strengthens over the region. Highs are forecast to reach 118 by next weekend. Overnight lows will continue in the upper 80's to low 90's. There is a slight chance of thunderstorms could develop over Yuma and Imperial Valley.
