Evacuations have been ordered for residents threatened by the Thorn Fire.

According to CalFire, the brush fire started at about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Live Oak Springs and grew to 699 acres in about 2 hours. Mandatory evacuation orders were issued for areas around the fire. A temporary Evacuation Center has been established at the Golden Acorn Casino. Several other areas were issued Evacuation Warnings as the fire progressed. According to CalFire, the Thorn Fire continues to burn at a moderate to dangerous rate of spread. Interstate was closed both directions.
