The $792,781 grant  will fully fund a full-time school resource officer across the city's three elementary schools. The aim is to help curb the rising youth THC vaping and boost early intervention programs. The grant will fully fund the new position to serve Ben Hulse, T.L. Wagner and Robert Rosas elementary schools. Currently, the city lacks a dedicated officer for the elementary campus's The new officer will not strictly focus on law enforcement. The duties ill heavily emphasize education, mentorship and safety planning. There will be classroom instruction on substance abuse prevention, internet safety, and conflict resolution, while actively connecting at-risk youth with counseling and support services.
