Just when you thought gas prices were dropping, the price for a gallon of gas will increase on July 1.
California's state gasoline excise tax will go up 2.2 cents per gallon. That means the state excise tax will be 63.4 cents per gallon. The increase is mandated by Senate Bill 1, a transportation r funding bill passed in 2017. Overall, California drivers pay between $1.15 to $1.20 per gallon in total taxes and fees. The price of Diesel fuel will also jump. The excise tax on Diesel will be 1.6 cents per gallon.
