The end is near for the ballot count in local races. With few ballots still uncounted there are several clear winners and several races apparently headed to a November runoff.

The apparent winners are:

In the race for County Assessor, incumbent Robert Menvielle has a 600 vote lead over challenger Ricardo Avila. 12,053 to 11,443.

IID Director Alex Cardenas has a 2 -1 led over challenger Carlos Duran.

IID Director Karin Eugenio has 3,439 votes to 2,154 for challenger Eric Rodriguez.

Ben Salorio appears to win the Super Court Seat 1 race with 12,449 votes to Veronica Henderson's 11,092.

Heading for a November General Election runoff are Incumbent John Hawk and challenger Patricia Lizarrago in the Board of Supervisors District 5 race. Hawk has 42.2% of the vote to 30% for Lizarraga.

The race for Board of Supervisors District 1 could still change. Enrique "Kiki" Alvarado has 2,142 votes, 49.46% to 1,195 votes for Jesus Eduardo Escobar, 27.58%. 50% plus one vote is needed to avoid a November runoff.
