(A swarm of earthquakes rumbled through the Brawlwy area last week).....Close to 400 quakes were reported during the swarm.

Most of the quakes were micro quakes, magnitude 2.9 and below. There were a few minor to moderate quakes, one measuring magnitude 4.7. It was originally thought damage was limited to items falling from store shelves and rattled nerves. It turns out, there was some structural damage. It was determined there was structural damage at the Ciudad Plaza Adult Apartments in Brawley. Once the damage was discovered, the facility was evacuated. Dozens of residents were force to seek lodging else-where. The residents were informed rents would be frozen until repairs were made, and nothing else. The City of Brawley and the American Red Cross stepped up. They rapidly set up a temporary emergency shelter at the Lion's Center
