(Western States advised)...The Federal Government is drawing up a 10-year plan.

The plan will deal with the water shortages along the Colorado River. The states were given several months to come up with their own plan, but they could not come up with a plan agreeable to all. California, Arizona and Nevada did agree on plan that limited their water usage to roughly 1.6 million acre-feet less each year for two years. With reservoirs Lake Mead and Lake Powell severely depleted and levels continuing to drop, the federal Government has decided it is time to step in. They have advised the 7 basin states that they are putting together a ten-year plan. The current allocations were drawn up in a 1922 agreement.
